NSWMC OHS Conference
29 April - 2 May 2012
Crowne Plaza, Hunter Valley NSW |
|
The NSW Minerals Council’s (NSWMC) annual Occupational Health and Safety Conference attracts more than 500 delegates from all levels of the NSW minerals industry workforce, major product suppliers, contractors and representatives from government, industry groups and unions. It is recognised as the major health and safety conference for the NSW minerals industry.
This year’s OHS conference asks a very simple question – what does health and safety really mean and are we doing enough as individuals and as an industry to manage the risks we face every day.
We will shine a light on the many health and safety systems used across the industry, with a particular focus on the impacts of mental health and how we can address the risks associated with this important health issue.
We will also look at road safety, drugs, safety management systems, fatigue, and the basic safety skills workers need as our industry grows and we continue to attract new people to mining in NSW.
All of these issues can affect a range of people – work colleagues, our families and the community – and we’ll focus on how we can control our actions and behaviours to minimise or eliminate that negative knock-on effect.
