  • The total value of minerals production in NSW is now an estimated $20 billion 

  • Mining and minerals processing in NSW currently generates 93,000 direct jobs and 325,000 indirect jobs state-wide
  • The total value of coal production in NSW in 2010-11 was $16.2 billion 

  • The total value of coal exports from NSW in 2010-11 was $14.1 billion 

  • The average weekly earnings in NSW mining as of May 2009 were $2,013, compared to State average weekly earnings of $1,060 for all industries
  • Mineral exploration in NSW has grown in recent years, with private investment increasing from $114 million in 2005-06 to $153 million in 2010-11 

  • The NSW mining industry has voluntarily committed more than $1 billion to the COAL21 fund to help manage climate change.
