MTS - Mining Equipment, Technology and Services

In 2008, the Australian Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (MTS) sector generated an estimated $12 billion in sales as a result of demand from the global mining industry. The MTS sector includes contract mining, exploration, professional services and software which are exported to places like China, India, Latin America, Africa, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Mongolia. Australian MTS exports are expected to rise from about $2.5 billion in 2007-08 to $6 billion by 2010-11 as the industry strives to increase productivity and safety. (Source: AUSTRADE)
