MINERS DIG DUNGOG
The NSW Minerals Council, under the banner "NSW Mining", is the Principal, Presenting Sponsor of the 2009 Dungog Film Festival.
Dungog 09 is a four-day celebration of new Australian films in this quintessentially Aussie country town north of Newcastle. Dungog boasts Australia’s longest, continuously running cinema and is also the gateway to the Barrington Tops World Heritage Wildness area.
NSW Mining is proud to be the biggest fan of Australia’s newest and most exciting national cultural event. More than that, the NSW Minerals Council, its Board, industry leaders and team members are privileged to be part of this fabulous home-grown creative partnership. We have more in common than you think!
The event has been developed by Australian AFI award-winning film makers Allanah Zitserman and Stavros Kazantzidis, whose film production accolades include “Love and Other Catastrophes” and “Russian Doll”.
The Festival features the best new and iconic Australian feature length films, short films and documentaries, as well as workshops and master classes for aspiring young film-makers from around the nation. Like all the great film festivals of the world there is a non-stop entertainment program and a local community that wholeheartedly supports the event.
One of the highlights of Dungog is the Festival party hosted by NSW Mining. Last year more than 600 people ‘made the earth move’ on the dance floor in the Miners Marquee after the world premiere of the main feature film. This year the “Rock ‘n Reel” party on Saturday 30 May will be a celebration not to be missed.
Tickets are now on sale for all Festival Events. Visit Dungog Film Festival website www.dungogfilmfestival.org for all ticket purchases. To arrange accommodation in Dungog call Wendy at the Dungog Visitor Information Centre on 02 4992 2212.
